How to create paragraph breaks in your Helium articles
New writers on the Internet has tolearn that there should be a lot of paragraph breaks in their writing. Internet readers are known skim quicker over words online than those that are written on paper. Having enough paragraph breaks makes it so much easier for the eye to jump to the following words.
More important though, enough paragraph breaks helps to prevent eye strain. Who of us haven't strained through a lenghty block of text, squinting to to read the words that are stacked upon another?
Writers of Helium articles will soon find that their articles are being rated down if there is not enough white space in their articles.I personally choose the other article as soon as it becomes clear that the writer did not bother to write his article more "user" friendly.
So how exactly do one create paragraph breaks in your Helium articles? It does not matter in which word processing program you choose to write, they all work the same. You can keep on writing in the word processor that you are the most comfortable with.
As soon as you have written three to four sentences of your article, press the "Enter" key on your keyboard. The cursor will jump to the next line. Press "E enter" again. You have now created a paragraph break.
Try for about one to one and a half lines of white space for your paragraph breaks. Any longer and your work may look too spaced out! Carry on writing, and keep on pressing the "Enter" key two times after each paragraph. A quick glance at your work will show a lot of white space. Don't worry, this is what you are aiming for.
Your readers will be able to quickly skim over the first few sentences and decide if they will continue reading your article or click away from your page. Being confronted with that large block of solid text will guarantee that away click.
Writers who are used to write articles apart from the Internet, may think that the short paragraphs are not long enough to express their ideas. Keep in mind that people tend to skim faster over the words when they are reading online. You are going to have to learn to write more concise. Take a look at the short paragraphs at the online TIME edition.
After you have written your article (with all the necessary paragraph breaks) copy it by highlighting the text and clicking the "control" and "c" keys. Go now to Helium and press on the "paste from Word" icon. Don't worry if you have not used Word, the paste icon works for nearly every program.
A window will open up for you to paste your work in. Click on the "control" and "v" and then press the "Insert" button. Now is the time to look closely to the formatting of your article. Sometimes the paragraph breaks are too long, click on delete to make them shorter.
It can also happen that the paragraph breaks disappears. Just read over your work carefully and add them by clicking two times "enter" again. when everything to to your satisfaction you may click on the "Publish" button.
It is said on that on the Internet "Content is King" and that is probably true. It would however not help much if you have the best articles in the world and they are unreadable. You must have paragraphs breaks in your Helium articles to get high rates and become a well read writer.
So...long live the white space!
