There are many different types of energy sources out there, some types are considered "clean energy", others provide us with the energy we need, but at a dirty cost. Energy sources such as coal pump out the majority of our energy, but they pollute the atmosphere more than anything. Fossil fuels also; they may provide energy, but they are a non-renewable source that if we keep going in the direction we are, there will be none left. That is why clean energy is the energy of the future. To determine the best type of clean energy, we must first understand what clean energy is.
Clean energy is what allows us to sleep in our beds at night knowing that we have a power source that, instead of harming the earth, protects it and utilizes it's life giving power without disturbing the natural balance of that life. These energy sources include hydro power, wind energy, and a few others including the controversial nuclear energy (often not considered clean), but the two major; being water and wind energy.
Although water is clean energy, it is often difficult to harness in large quantities. Energy plants that use hydro power occasionally experience blackouts because the force of water is a brilliant force of nature that can become difficult to control. In old times, water wheels were the epitome of energy production, and for a single home by the river, it may still be today; a good source of energy that's free and easy to maintain. So if you live by flowing water, you can make a major cut in electric bills by installing a water wheel near, or on your home.
My personal favorite source of clean energy is the windmill. Although there are different ways to go about gathering wind energy, the windmill is the most common sight. If you are driving down a long country road, you may see a few cows grazing in the pasture, a few broken up spaces of wooded area every now and then. Then you may see a few hundred windmills off in the distance. The cows in the pasture and the woods all around, symbolize the fact that wind energy works together with nature in harmony. They provide much of the areas around them with clean energy. Up close; the structures are massive. There white surfaces and smooth, gentle motions of the whirling fan have an almost soothing affect. They are placed in very scenic locations and can be seen often when traveling in the country.
It is my belief that wind energy will be our salvation from those energy sources that pollute or remove from the planets life. It is the future, and the best clean energy there is.
