No, Bush bashing is not unpatriotic.
Having been a Bush supporter and in some ways I still am, say what ever you wish to say about the man. But you then have to deal with people bashing your guy or gal. I think that is the problem with most people who attack Bush. When it's their turn in the wringer all of a sudden it's unpatriotic to bash the President or Senator or Congressperson.
So I say, please continue to bash Bush, as Hillary Clinton said, "dissent is patriotic." Just remember everyone gets to spend time in the fire. No one is immune.
Did Bush make mistakes? Yes.
Could he have done things better? Yes.
Spending all of that money on TARP was completely unwise. But our current President is falling into the same trap. Bush wanted to suspend economic principals to save economic principals. What? On what planet did that even make sense?
President Obama seems to want to do him one better, so he's gonna double the debt, all the while he keeps blaming Bush for the bad economy. You can't have it both ways, can you?
Can you go after Bush for the war? Yes. But I don't think he went to war so he and Cheney could make a buck or two. That is beyond cynical, isn't it?
It was the right thing to do, questioning our President about such an important topic. Did any one question Congress, you know, the people who gave him the authority to go to war? Bash the President for the war. Bash the congress for the power to go to war. Dems. and Repubs. alike. Be fair, now. It wasn't all him alone for the war effort.
Bash away if it makes you feel better, and go ahead tell the rest of us what you really think of him. That's OK. This is America and that is one of the freedoms that he took us to Iraq for. The man is not evil. He is just a man who did what he thought was right. Is Obama evil for leading us down the path to socialism? No. But he is misguided also and you can't get angry when people bash him, but you do and I find that hypercritical, don't you?
So the question is, is it un-American to bash the President? I would have to say, no, it isn't. It is the citizens' job to make sure that the President is taking care of what we let him borrow. It does not matter if that man or woman is on the left or the right. It only matters that the person in question does right by the American people.
I believe that with Bush people came unglued over his perceived stealing of the election. The bashing that went on for eight years sometimes went over the top. From calling him a nazi to calling him a war criminal. If either of those charges had merit, they should have been proven. They never were. These same people are dead set against anyone going after Obama for anything that he might do. It doesn't work that way. They are all fair game.
