The uses of getting high are essentially based around feeling happy. All types of drugs affect our neurotransmitters and dopamine production. Cocaine and Amphetamines block re-uptake of dopamine, re-uptake is basically the absorption of a neurotransmitter. Slowing the process down, simply speaking. So this, along with the initial dopamine release, makes you feel really good for along time. Opiates increase production of dopamine by opening neural pathways directly to the source of all neurotransmitters and also by inhibiting the production of chemicals that usually stop dopamine production.
With respects to Marijuana. All studies ever, have found that there has never been any fatal overdoses from Marijuana. The chance of dying accidentally from physical injury are fairly low. As well are the chances to become physically or mentally addicted. All of this, because of a lack of cannabinoid receptors in specific parts of the brain and body and otherwise dense clusters in other specific parts of the brain. These receptor sites are activated only by cannabis either from outside the body or generated inside the body, these are known as endocannabinoids. Natural cannabis from inside our own bodies, a crazy thought, but its true. Endocannabinoids are found in animals all over the globe, including humans. So it seems all beings have had a long history with cannabis. Despite warnings and ill propaganda.
Personally, I feel Cannabis makes me feel great, oh the food, and the music! Within moderation of course, an overdose of Marijuana isn't going to kill you, but you won't feel very good. To much stimulation of any kind is not good. All of this with respect to any individuals level of tolerance. I am not familiar enough with ADD to really comment, but my brain and the way I operate reminds me of descriptions of ADD symptoms. I am always staying busy with multiple tasks at one time, franticly putting together theories in my head, your basic anxiousness. Marijuana or THC helps me focus, I don't really experience lack of motivation. I am more relaxed, but I am able to work out certain emotions and feelings I experience throughout the day. I enjoy about everything a great deal more when I am "high". Including delving into these emotions, really figure out why I feel a certain way, on a topic. Why my internal reaction carried my external emotion a certain direction. I enjoy that ability, whether its externally induced or self induced(internally).
The study of emotions in general is way behind the times, especially for as many emotional medication that are on the market. I think is most, not all cases, placebos are all we really need. That is a bold thing to say, but what I am commenting about is the sheer power in our own brains chemical production plant. I think the reason people take any chemical is to induce a specific reaction they enjoy. Meditation is another fantastic tool, I believe the next tool. They say Marijuana is a gateway drug. In my opinion, it's a gateway to meditation and . Many people also say that smoking marijuana is not recommended for those seriously into meditation. I'm not going to argue that point. I just think that as humans we are emotional creatures and the more we develop this skill or instinct the better. Opinions and experiences differ for everybody but for me, that is just a few uses, of getting high, man...
