Songs: Heartbreak

This is about my father.

The Man in the Moon

Your heart, the moon, far away and cold
Eclipsed by pain from wounds so deep and old
I can never live inside
Clouded in hurt, Your light sometimes shines through
Flickering, fleeting glimpses of you
Unattainable, distant, And so beautiful to me
But I know You're the man in the moon

My heart, the sea, reflects your every mood
My ebb and tide conform to follow you
Unfathomed depths, longing for your light
Then like the moon, You fade into the night
Left in the dark, heartsick, to tired to fight
I'm broken, shattered, lost and all alone
You don't shine for me you're the man in the moon

And the man in the moon doesn't feel, so he never cries
The man in the moon can't care so he never tries
Does he know he's lonely, Is that why he's blue?

Silver beams, like tears falling down
Caress my face, as they stream t'wards the ground
And for a minute, a second, I pretend that you love me
But you never will you're the man in the moon
