Affiliate marketing has become one of the most popular online ventures for new internet marketers and a long time tool of seasoned veterans. Once you have picked the product you are going to represent and have done all of the essential side-work, there is only one thing left to do - drive quality traffic to boost profits.

You can boost profits simply by ensuring that the traffic you receive is highly targeted. Highly targeted traffic means that the visitors to your webpage or website consists entirely of people who are interested in your products niche. If you promoting a new fitness program it doesn't do you any good to have people interested in dog training because they have no need for your product.

Here 3 ways to make sure that the traffic to your website is highly targeted.

1. PPC or Pay Per Click Ads - PPC ads are fairly effective, however can end up costing you money if you do not make any sales.

PPC ads are the ads that you see when you are using a search engine. These ads create highly targeted traffic because your ad for a new fitness program will only be seen by people that are searching for fitness programs. If they search for dog training, they will never see your ad. However, the drawback to these ads are the same reasons that they are popular. You will pay for the ad each time someone clicks on it and goes to your website. The drawback is that you will be paying for every visitor and this can get costly. If you are not selling enough of your new fitness program, then you will end up losing money.

2. Blogging - Blogging is very effective and can boost your income by having complimentary affiliate products on your blog as well.

Blogging has almost become critical for online affiliate marketing success. Blogging ensures highly targeted traffic because people are not going to look at your blog if they are not interested in the subject matter. Search engines also favor blogs because are constantly updated with new and relevant information. This means that your entire website can get better rankings with a blog than without. The higher your rankings are, the more "organic" or search engine traffic you will receive. The extra bonus is that you not have to pay anything for this traffic, it is generated from people using search engines like Google or Yahoo. You can also boost your profits by placing additional ads on your blog. This creates multiple streams of income so that you do not have to rely solely on your new fitness program.

3. Article Marketing - Article Marketing is the most effective way to boost profits and gain extremely highly targeted website traffic for years to come, after writing each article.

Article marketing is my personal favorite when it comes to generating highly targeted traffic for my affiliate programs. The reason is simple. Once you write and article and submit it to 1 or 100 directories, it is there forever (or until the directory closes down). Each of these articles should contain one or two links back to your website. Now every time someone reads your articles and wants to hear more about your topic, they will click on your link and go directly to your affiliate website. Articles also boost your website rankings for more organic traffic because they provide you with additional back-links. In fact, there are marketers that are still getting traffic from articles that they wrote 5 or more years ago. While this may be a little labor intensive, it is well worth the work.
