David Cook was the winner of the seventh season of the popular show American Idol. With his Chris Daughtry-like style and that little smile he would give the audience while he sang won over America. Many thought the other David (Archuleta) would win with his teen fanbase. But Cook won by a huge margin. His debut album "David Cook" showcases his rock style. Each song sends a message to the listener through his life.

"Declaration" is telling the world that he is here and ready to rock. "Heroes" is a song that I would send to my dad because the meaning would make my dad feel like a hero with the upbeat and "And I'm still standin'" chant gives a great message. "Come Back to Me" is the typical love break up song with David Cook's amazing voice and guitar. It sounds like he's asking you to come back to him and many of us would be very happy to go to him. "Life On the Moon" tells about his journey on American Idol and how the fame affected him. It feels like he's somewhere else than his home in the Mid-West. I just love this man's voice. It's perfect! Rock, but so controlled. I don't know how

"Bar-ba-Sol" got its title, but it is a great rock song. It's great to listen to while doing work. It gets you pumped with the great drums and scratchy. grundge feel. It shows that this guy can rock. David introduces himself with "Mr.Senstive". It basically describes him and the world around him. It's another great rock rock piece. "Lie" is one of those "I love you, but it's not going to work" songs. But, the great vocals makes it worth listening to it. He's not your typical American Idol that can disappear. He has talent. "I Did It For You" is my personal favorite with the awesome beat. I love the great guitar and the note he hits at the end of the song. The title basically tells about the song. He's telling what he has done for a girl. Another love song, but reinvented.

"Avalanche" is a falling in love song. It's a little slower beat than a typical in love song. If you don't listen, you could mistake it for a sad love song. There's one note that sounds sour about 2 minutes into the song. I don't know if it was suppose to be like that, but I cringe just a little when I hear it. But it is a great song with David's falsetto dominating the song. "Permanent" is probably one of the songs I've ever heard and when I figured out who it was about, it made it even sader. The song is about David's late brother who had bain cancer for nearly a decade. He released this song as a single after his brother dies to earn money for cancer research. The song is beautiful though. David puts his heart into this song. The notes at the end gave me chill bumps. If you are going to just buy one David's songs, this is the one to buy. "

A Daily AntheM" was also written for Adam. The capital letters spell out "Adam". It's a great song to just sing along to. It sounds like it's about celebrating life everyday and the lessons David has learned from his brother. The album is great. Nothing to really say anything negative about. Solid album, solid guy. He's going to be very sucessful with his growing music career.
