Poetry: A blank life

by S.C. Kleinhans

Awkward anticipation; mounting expectations.

A new life abruptly unveiled.

Future dreams have suddenly sailed.

Wispy winds turned into an unyielding hurricane.

Husband and wife devoured by a symphony of pain.

This fragile parchment will be consumed by dust.

A torrent of tears will turn everything to rust.

The golden pen never had a chance

to tell the tale of this innocent life.

Blank soul; imperfect body; blank life.

Thirteen hours of misery and strife

as a bitter battle ensued between life and death.

Little baby boy choked on his final breath.

Blank tombstone cheered up by a little stuffed bear.

Grieving parents, drowning in tears, eyes fixed in a stare.
