The last one of her kind,
She sits
By the whispering willows of the haunted woods
That keep taunting her, reminding her...
She remembers the days
Many years ago
When the woods were young and free,
Saplings of oaks, willows and gentle beeches,
Like her.
She would frolic through the forest,
With her friends, the other Unicorns
Under the canopy of singing hobgoblins and mythological pets
With her friends...
Her friends.
What had happened?
Suddenly a huge earthquake occured,
and the Faeries lunged out.
The balance between them disturbed,
All the nearby life was being lost.
It tore the Unicorn's heart watching her friends
Slowly, softly,
Being sent into
The great unknown.
Old now,
Her bones aching,
She senses life...
No! humans coming from the mainland!
Why should she have to spend her last days
Captured,
Her heart and soul ripped out,
Fighting against other creatures
who were once young and free...
Like her.
She makes her choice.
As she walks into the merciless sea,
She prepares to join her friends once more
