The sky is the blue quietness
where clouds crowd in infinite space,
an aerial veil spread above our heads.
The sky is a ballet of birds and kites,
the hue of rainbows through trees,
this lonely, tireless moon
following endless paths
before travellers' eyes.
And the sky is the safe for prayers,
the sound of the rain,
the fear of thunder and lightning,
the rumour of planes
arriving, fading away.
The sky is you smiling,
sitting on the porch
with your arms on your knees,
staring at its fiery colours,
its darkness with white stars,
and the sky is you with me.
