There are pros and cons of home dry cleaning kits just like there are with any new product that hits the market. Dry cleaning kits are designed for temporary cleaning between visits to the professional dry cleaners .For some they do the job their expecting but others find themselves disillusioned. The reasons can vary with the individual, maybe some people expect more from the product than others and become disappointed when it is not achieved. Here are some suggestions that may help you better understand what dry cleaning kits are all about.
There are three types of dry cleaning kits available on the market today. These include three basic components and these are stain absorbing pads, a heat activated cloth and a dryer bag that can be used over again. The object of these components is to dry clean your clothing and remove the stains without using commercial dry cleaning solvents. However you have to do the work that is done by a professional dry cleaner when you drop of your clothing. This includes pre-spotting the stain, placing it in the bag, placing it in the dryer and steaming or ironing it after it is removed from the bag.
Pros of dry cleaning kits
There are advantages of dry cleaning kits and the main advantage is saving money at the cleaners. You can dry clean several items at a time for approximately fifty cents. Of course this requires a little help from you. These kits are ideal for a quick way to freshen clothing and will help prolong the time of having to take them to the cleaners. If your stain is small and depending on what type of stain it is, dry cleaning kits can certainly do the job you're looking for. If you're on a very tight budget this may be just what you're looking for.
Another advantage of dry cleaning kits is that you are not exposed to the chemicals used by professional dry cleaners. So if you're sensitive to commercial chemicals this makes a great alternative. It is also user friendly as the chemicals that are used are environmentally friendly and are safe to use.
Cons of dry cleaning kits
The main disadvantage of dry cleaner kits are if you're expecting the same type of cleaning that you would get at a professional cleaners you may be a little disappointed. Dry cleaning kits takes advantage of the premise of steam that comes from water. They are good for small stains but have been proven to be not quite as efficient for larger stains. It also depends on the type of stain you're working with. For people with allergies dry cleaning kits infuse your clothing with a perfume smell to which you could be allergic to. This is how the dry cleaning process gives you a fresh smelling garment.
You still have to pre-spot your stains with the cleaner provided; you still have to blot the stain to remove the most of it from your garment. You also have to remove it from the dryer exactly thirty minutes after you put it in and use either steam or ironing if the instructions allow. Your clothes will come out wrinkled a little that will need some attention and if you leave them in the dryer after thirty minutes they will wrinkle more becoming a bigger problem. If you don't mind doing this then the cleaning kit may be what you're looking for. If you want a quick fix on small stains and to refresh a garment, the kit will work for you. If you're looking for a garment like it arrives from the cleaners you will be disappointed.
These kits come in handy for quick touch ups but they can't take the place of a professional steam cleaner. It will totally depend on your preference and see if it's worth your time and money to invest in ones of these kits. It will help you to decide once you know the pros and cons of home dry cleaning kits.
