Poetry: Long distance relationships

by Heather Watkins

I've seen stars collide with themselves
without giving it a thought,
a plethora of light cascading from a single merging
too distant to be clear.
Sometimes I'm reminded of that brilliance
when I look at you, and sometimes
when you exist for me only through phone lines
and memory of your smell,
I'm left hoping
for the tiniest bit of light in your
absence.
