In today's economy, money is no laughing matter. Most people are striving to save anywhere and everywhere they can. For those in Mesa, Arizona, there are many opportunities in which to save pennies and still get maximum enjoyment.
Utilize public transportation
Cars are extremely expensive. In addition to the actual cost of the car, you pay for maintenance, gas, tolls, insurance and more. Riding public transportation cuts down on many of these costs. Fortunately, Mesa has an extensive public transportation system. At only $1.75 a bus ride, and much less if you get multiple day passes, the Valley Metro bus line offers a low-cost alternative to riding in your car. There are over 17 routes that criss-cross Mesa, traveling on many of the major roads. In addition, the Metro Light Rail offers service to Tempe and Phoenix. There are reduced fees for seniors, children, those with a disability and Medicare Card holders.
When traveling, look for hotels that offer good value
The price for a night in a hotel can vary widely, yet there are many quality hotels that offer low, low prices. Mesa offers a wide variety of value hotels that do not compromise services or amenities. With daily rates of $61 or lower, Sleep Inn Mesa is one such hotel. They offer a complementary breakfast, a fitness facility, wireless Internet and more. At $56 a night, Comfort Inn & Suites Downtown is another value hotel. They offer a business center, spa, high-speed Internet access, free parking and more. Other inexpensive hotels include Holiday Inn Phoenix - Mesa/Chandler, Days Hotel Mesa Country Club and Best Western Dobson Ranch Inn and Resort.
Look for low cost/free entertainment
Entertainment does not have to be expensive to be enjoyable, and the activities in Mesa Arizona prove that. Many museums offer an entire day of enjoyment for one low cost. At $7 for an adult and only $3 for a child 6-14 (with younger children free), the Arizona Wing Commemorative Air Force Museum offers a fun and educational experience for the price of one fast food meal. You can also visit a park, which is another extremely low cost activity. Bring a picnic lunch, and you'll spend a fraction of the cost of a restaurant. The Mesa Parks and Recreation Department offers over 56 parks for residents and visitors to enjoy.
Patronize low cost restaurants
There are many hidden gems in the restaurant industry - those small mom and pop eateries that offer delicious food for excellent values.
