Poetry: When it rains

Puddles

When rain falls in heavy torrents
Puddles form along the street.
They come in many shapes and sizes
For so many sets of feet.

Puddles are enticing.
To enjoy them lose your poise.
As children gather round them,
There's bound to be some noise.

One child becomes soaking wet -
He bursts with shouts of glee;
One child struggles to stay dry
And fails so miserably.

Rain falls fast and furious,
Soaking skin through clothes.
Children turn to go home
So they can warm their toes.

Hot chocolate placed before them
They yearn to see the sun.
While there will be no puddles
They will still have fun.
