It appears President Obama has put all his eggs in the health care reform basket. He is pushing this as hard as any recent president has advocated any initiative. But when the bipartisan Congressional Budget Office announces the plan is unaffordable and unsustainable, that raises concerns among Americans, especially in the aftermath of Obama authorizing the spending of $787 billion for an economic recovery no one can feel yet. We know he has already increased the national debt to its highest amount ever and will have trouble just paying the interest on that debt because tax revenue from Federal personal income tax is down 20%. Every time we turn on any media, we hear he cannot possibly institute universal health care without raising taxes, but he has promised he would not raise taxes on anyone making under $250,000 a year. Then we hear discussions from administration officials about how a lower cost health care plan can be implemented if we just do it "smartly". Under the "smartly" topics are "end of life counseling", withholding treatment to the terminally ill, questions about a person's productivity, and a pretty easily reached conclusion of government mandated euthanasia. And to top it all off, we're told members of Congress will be exempt from taking part in the program they draft into law.
Enter the baby boomers. "Good enough for me, but not good enough for you, huh? We'll see about that!" At town hall meetings across the country, senators and congressmen were shocked to meet angry crowds, be called on the carpet about their support of health care reform, and be asked questions about the proposed bill they couldn't answer. Amazingly, their response in the media to these confrontations with their constituents was it was all "manufactured anger" orchestrated by the Republican Party.
It's common knowledge in political circles, and in most other circles where a modicum of intelligence is present, that most political rallies are populated by supporters of the respective cause or politician. The event is often staged to appear like a crowd just happened to coincidentally show up and began shouting support. Oh, and they also just happened to be carrying signs of support as well. Who shows up to a rally for a person or cause they don't support? Apparently a lot of people. Check out link #1 below.
By all appearances, however, Americans opposed to the Obama administration's health care proposals are growing in numbers every day. Unlike many, perhaps even most
