Poetry: The simple things

by Gerry Legister

Created on: August 11, 2009   Last Updated: November 09, 2009

The simple things you did were sweet,

I could dream about you forever,

And rise to forget the pain in my heart,

When I lay down at ease in slumber.

And my soul rise within your memory,

To create again what was extinguish,

And forget the simple things of beauty

To remember nothing of the anguish.

In my solitude I will bloom again,

As fruits ripe for harvest to be sold,

And breathe a sigh as the blowing wind,

At the memory of the simple things you did.

I would remember all that they spanned,

In every joy, they brought some storms,

And love went from paradise land,

To a dreamer embracing new visions.

With voices coming from the deep,

Either sentimental adoration for your deed,

Or to find comfort somewhere dark to weep,

About the haunting things you did.

The simple things you did well,

Made me to appreciate life far better,

And taught me how to treasure a smile,

When nothing in life is meant to last forever.
