How to organize your household

Let's be honest, it's extremely difficult to get anything done, and even be happy in a cluttered home. To organize your home means a little bit more than just cleaning it, you have to put things in their place, and that place has to be one you're inclined to put them back in.

A good thing to do is buy two plastic paper racks and divide them between to-do and done. At the beginning of your day put a bunch of index cards that have things you plan to accomplish by the end of the day in the to-do bin, and at random pick one up and do what it says. You might find yourself more inclined to finished what you start.

Make sure everything has a place. We all have those junk counters and nooks where we will just stack whatever needs to be put somewhere. For example, putting plentiful items on top of your piano or your speaker. These areas just give you too much leeway. You can put anything at anytime there. Find a place for everything and keep it there when you're done with it.

If you end up with an abundance of stuff you are unsure what to do with, there is one more option left: store it. Even if you get the smallest size there is you will be able to fit a surprisingly large amount of things (the smallest size room in most storage facilities is a 5x5). The key to maximizing your space is one thing and one thing only: stacking. For what you get skimped out on in floor area you make back in the height of the compartment (likely around 9'). Make sure to box everything and label it appropriately. The best storage facilities in my experience are those of Storage Deluxe (http://www.storagedeluxe.com/ ), who offer the cheapest rates by far.

After you go through everything there is one thing left to do: throw stuff out. Let's be frank, there is a good percentage of things you own that you probably won't ever use again. You HAVE to be honest with yourself when you look over your stuff. Maybe someone else could use this, y'know, donate it to charity.

These are just a few of many things you can do, but they are good first steps to make your home a much more pleasant place to be in. Good luck organizing, and remember there is a place for everything.
