My toes dip into the warm water and
Tiny waves wet my feet.
Feels good to be here, tonight
I can just sit
And unwind, just me and the water
And the trees
We are so close to each other,
Water touching feet, water touching sand, and sand
Touching trees.
All tied together. And I know that this
Was the right place to come tonight,
This is the only place
Where everything else can slide away.
Here I sit, feet swishing in the water, eyes gazing
Into the blue sky, and my worries slowly drift away,
Floating across the lake, and my thoughts stop spinning,
Until they are as still and peaceful
As the lake itself.

Poetry: The water's edge
The waters edge
Down at the water's edge,
Where the cattails sway,
And the dragonflies hover,
Searching for their prey,
Willows
by Mike Bayles
The Rhythm of Time
Breeze-stirred waves lap
against The Mississippi's shoreline
next to me in a steady rhythm
as I follow shadows
Gentle spirit, calmed by waters edge.
Sitting silent, steady stone,
Inner turmoil from soul to bone.
Calm blue sky,
It's a dark night
The crickets chirp me songs of misery
As the moons pale light casts reflections of my sins upon the waters
We sat beside the water's edge,
holding each other tight,
holding on for dear life.
No need for words,
only two
