How technology can improve your golf game

Omnia Gallia divisa in tres partem est. Julius Caesar! What does his Latin, "All Gaul is divided into three parts" have to do with how technology is going to improve my golf game? Golf has three parts. And if you have plans to go from hacker to pro, all the parts must be kept in mind. We all can't become Tiger, but we can learn to growl.

In case you are wondering, the three parts are: the Course, the Golfer, and the tools of the game. Only the first two have a place where technology can lower your score. A golfer's GPS, for example, is a good tool and can teach you about the course. You will also be pleased to know that new technology is upcoming on the horizon. Technology will bring you all the respect you have earned at the 19th hole. But, wise birdie, don't forget there are three parts to the game of golf. Don't become devoured on the green. Respect is gained by using the technology, not letting it sit idle in your golf bag or pocket.

Tees or Tease? The new tees have sections on the perimeter removed to improve the MOI (Moment of Inertia) when the driver strikes the ball. This means that the less contact a ball has with the tee, the better golfer you will be. Use them. They will help you.

You might say high-tech golfing starts with your balls. The speed of your drive comes from what nature gave you and how you use it. So how can the average speed of an average golfer at a 105 mph match the speed of a pro at 110 to 115 mph? Or can your drive come even close to the speed of Tiger at 125? The truth is it can't, but if you use technology to bring you up to speed, your game will improve. Use your balls wisely.

A Bridgeport RX ball will bring a smile to the face of an average golfer, as it is made to receive a lower mph hit. And because the hit comes at a lower speed, performance is what counts. When you develop a higher speed, switch to a more expensive Titlest Pro V1. The technology is like matching the speed of the clutch to the gears in a transmission. Nobody likes the sound of gears not matching the speed of the engine. It is that simple, though the technology is very complex. Use what you have, use it wisely and you will win.

What about the golfer's GPS? Handy little devices, these are. They have a lot of information programmed into them about the course itself, and it is like having a pro in your pocket to take you through the course as you go. There are many makes and models out there, and there are upcoming bells and whistles coming up in the near future. They are all worth buying and using, particularly the Gamin Approach G-5 which has come down in price in the last year. Of all the tech tools for the avid golfer, the GPS is the best thing to happen since metal replaced wood on a driver.

These are a few of the things that modern technology has given you to lower your score and enable even a duffer to even a score or two. Always remember golf is three things and you will never be divided on any score.
