Well, me and some friends were out camping one weekend. It was a beautiful Friday so we decided to go for it. We all figured out a little place not too far out of town to pitch our tent. So we loaded up all the gear and some food. Then we took off for the campground.
After arriving we decided to help each other pitch the new tent I bought a couple of weeks ago. This is not your ordinary little pup tent. This baby sleeps nine adults. It has a full screen porch on the front. The thing also has Velcro windows on the other three sides. It comes with twenty tie downs and stakes to hold it down. As if a wind could pick it up with nine people in it. Anyway we take this thing out of its neatly folded bag. After unrolling it the thing stretches about twenty feet in each direction. This much material and only three of us guys to pitch it. Needless to say it was going to be a task.
Well we jumped right into it. Wasn't any tent going to defeat us macho men. We first tried to raise and stake the back and work our way towards the front porch. This made sense after all the porch was made of netting and the rest plastic material. In other words solid. After wrestling around with the thing to get it in place on a level surface. As much as possible in the woods. The back was up and ready.
Now came the sides. Two sides and three of us. That put two on one side to tie and stake it. Leaving the other one for my friend to keep pulled in the upright position until we could get around there to stake it. Well with two pulling against one you can guess what happened. His side came to ours. It was aggravating at the time. Now we look back and laugh. When we pulled the middle rope to tie on the stake he came, with the other side of the tent, right into us. We all hit the ground and so did the tent. All the hard work on the back destroyed.
After this little excitement we knew we had to find someone to help us. Luck would have it a friendly young guy came along. He was more than willing to help us after seeing the overlarge tent I was dumb enough to buy. After about forty five minutes to an hour we had tamed the tent. Along with the porch part. We even invited the nice young gentleman to join us for dinner. He accepted. So we roasted marshmallows and hot dogs. What a dinner.
When we finished visiting and eating it was time to turn in for the night. Everything was going good until I was awakened by rain drops on my head. Any other time this would be hilarious. Not this night. After fighting
