Perspiration stains always seem to show up worse on your favorite blouse or shirt and serve as a beacon of what once was a beautiful white. Perspiration stains are on most clothing but is really noticeable on whites. The cause of this stain is the reaction of the aluminum used in the deodorants interacting with the salt in your perspiration. There is no way of completely stopping it so the best thing you can do is know how to remove perspiration stains from clothing.
Prevention
Prevention is sometimes the key to perspiration stains and you can do this by wearing an undergarment under your shirt or blouse or you can purchase a deodorant that doesn't have aluminum compounds in it. If you can't find a deodorant completely free of this compound try to find the deodorant with the lowest aluminum possible. If you find that you sweat profusely while wearing your garment wash it as soon as you can. Don't put a garment in the dryer anymore once you notice a stain forming - you may never be able to remove the stain again. Hang your garment in the sun to make it whiter or place it where it will air dry.
Removing perspiration stains
Before you try any cleaning mixture on clothing you should test it on an inconspicuous part of the garment first and read the washing instructions. Once you have done this you can continue with your cleaning. You can do this by placing one part baking soda to one part peroxide and one water. This should be enough to do one shirt.
Place something on the surface you are going to use to protect it. Rub the solution on the garment and let it sit for approximately thirty minutes so it can have the chance to do its work. If the stain is a little stubborn, use a soft bristle brush and gently rub it across the stain to loosen any residue that may be still there. After the time has passed you can wash the garment as usually using cool or warm water.
Ammonia and detergent
Before you use ammonia make sure your room is well ventilated and that you are wearing gloves. Mix one part detergent such as OxyClean with one part ammonia, you will need two tablespoons of each for one shirt or blouse. Mix this solution well. Cover the area you are planning to work on. Lay the garment down and rub the solution into the garment. Leave the mixtures sit for at least thirty minutes then wash as you usually would. If your printed garments have indications of perspiration stains you will find that a cup of vinegar in water does wonders. Let your garment soak for a while and then wash it as usual.
Perspiration stains can not only be annoying but at times can be downright embarrassing. Try these solutions and see how white your garment will look without the yellow included. Perspiration is a part of our lives and is a part that we wish we could do without, but for every problem there is a solution and all you need to know is how to remove perspiration stains from clothing.
