Honestly, I do not think it is cruel to have aquarium fish. If they are fed daily, the water is chemically balanced, and all requirements are sufficient, then I have nothing against owning an aquarium with fish in it. The people from PETA can say anything that they would like to me and everyone else in this world, but that doesn't mean they are going to listen, especially if it is over keeping some beautiful fish in an amazingly awesome aquarium! I am against animal abuse, it's totally cruel, but keeping fish in a fish tank isn't animal abuse. Read on the find the reasons why this isn't animal cruelty.

Hypothetically speaking, if I were to keep a dog in a glass aquarium and someone found out, I hope they would rat me out. If I was keeping fish in an aquarium, then why would they call the police? If the fish are happy, then why would you put them back out into the ocean and lakes that they came from? If an animal is dependent on us humans to get its food, water, and all of the other vital things that it needs to survive, then how do you expect it to survive out where it is dependent on itself to get food and water. It would also have to watch out for the hundreds of predators that will be stalking it constantly, something it doesn't have to worry about when in the safeness of an aquarium.

When you go to the pet store, what are some of the first things that your children run to look at? The different brightly colored fish or the pet food? If you are taking proper care of your fish, then I see nothing wrong with having fish in your aquarium! PETA, why ridicule something that is so beautiful? Saltwater and freshwater fish alike are among the most graceful things I know of. It's amazing to watch these tiny things fly through the water, not having to wait a week for its next meal, not having to watch for the predators that are waiting right around the next corner. Why have these animals go through that when they could have a perfectly satisfying aquarium to swim around in, carefree?

If you think that there is anything wrong with having aquarium fish, then that's your opinion. I feel differently; fish should be able to swim carefree, and if that means in an aquarium, then so be it. But at least they'll be safe!
