I think the 'basics' of not only 'nursing' but of all jobs are absolutely essential to be successful in your respective work.
After obtaining the necessary qualification and training just apply for a suitable opening. But remember to apply at several or as many as possible places so that you can choose the best.
Once you have chosen go on for interview with good preparation in the form of carrying yourself well with ample knowledge of your field in mind.
Once chosen in the interview and appointed start your job in the best possible manner remembers ... first impression is the last impression.
But continue that same attitude throughout because if you leave it and become careless you won't be recognized which is the key to your success.
Now I am giving below some of the basic procedures to be followed by all those who choose to be good nurses :
Nurses according to me are sometimes more important than even the Doctor because she has to follow instructions of the Doctor. Only a small bit of carelessness in following those instructions can result even in the death of patient. Hence, if one is not meticulous in following instructions, then he should not choose the job of a nurse.
Cleanliness is very important for nursing job. Starting from disinfecting syringes to washing the wounds, patient bathing, cleaning, etc. disinfecting the medical instruments is very important and this can be done well and efficiently only if the nurse is clean by nature. If not, one should not go for a nursing job.
Having a friendly nature and good communication abilities is yet another quality which a good nurse should have as talking and communicating well with patients is an important part of treatment.
A good nurse should have a good nature and a capability to encourage even the worse kind of patients with hopeless cases to develop a desire to be better and well.
Nurses should be very patient and polite, with a good training in giving injections, medicines, etc. in time to the patients.
I would advice to all that if they don't have the above qualities in them, then they should not choose a nursing job because patients need a lot of care and understanding which is so necessary for them for improving the condition in which they are in.
Finally, I wish good luck to all those who are going to prepare for joining a job and hence want to know more about 'the basics of nursing procedures' or whatever their job.
