Poetry: Dreams & hope

Garden Of Stone, Revisited

Once more I come in silence, Once more I come alone
I've come back for my dreams in this garden of stone.
For no nourishing love ever made this garden grow.
All my 'flowers', save one, are stones aligned in a row.

Oh, here lies my hopes and there lies my gladness.
Here are the yesterdays passed in bitter sadness.
I remember how I watered them in such loving pain
With my anguished tears and self-pity's acid rain.

Now I'll take the one seedling that still clings to life
To a garden of laughter, far from this one of strife.
Again, joy overwhelms me in a sun-washed dream
As I take from the wasteland its one patch of green.
The dreaming seed within me, no longer am I alone,
And I leave...for the last time...this garden of stone.
