Why should pregnant women take prenatal vitamins

There are certain reasons women should take their prescribed prenatal vitamins. All women that have had a child that have taken vitamins know what they taste like. I am certain that we can all agree they are one of the most foulest tastes in pill form. You have to plug your nose and swallow though. Pregnant women need as much vitamins that are in the pill.

The more your baby grows the more vitamins and minerals it needs. If you do not take them pills or liquid it will start robbing you of what your body has. Then you are left with none. You need to keep yourself healthy so you can keep getting up and function. Think about it, when your not giving that baby or babies what they need (like calcium) it is going to take yours. So your bones are going to be weakened, your teeth are not going to be as strong as they were.

You know you already have back problems when you are pregnant. The extra calcium in the pills will help support your back so later down the line your back is stronger. Them poor little babies need your nourishment to stay healthy. The need prenatal vitamins for their developmental growth. Recent studies show that prenatal vitamins can help reduce the risk of pediatric tumors. Some birth defects are even from vitamin deficiencies.

You do not want to steal away the chance they have in the womb to be healthy and happy babies. I know they taste bad but for your child, I did. I personally know you need to keep your iron up. My first child drained so much of my iron out I walked around looking like a zombie. My face was so white I did not look like myself. I had no energy to do anything. I was admitted to the hospital because of dehydration. I drank water a lot but with out them vitamins my body just could not take it.

I learned my lesson that way though. For my second child, I did make sure I took a vitamin every day. I did take some vitamins with my first one, but not all the time. Like I said, they are just to hard to swallow. Your belly is doing enough flip-flops with out adding that. Just the smell is enough to make you sick. So women really should take their prenatal vitamins every day.
