Astrology's ability to solve problems in relationships

by Lin Barrett

Created on: August 08, 2009

Let us be clear about one thing from the outset: astrology has no ability at all to solve problems in relationships. That power resides within the person(s) involved in said relationship.

Can astrology provide information helpful to solving the problems of relationship? Yes.

For those who believe that astrology isn't valid, please acquaint yourself with quantum physics' theory of "quantum entanglement."

Astrology can describe personality quite accurately. What each person brings to a relationship is also described; the combination of these characteristics is what will describe the nature of the relationship between two people.

In relationship, one person's chart is compared to another's by literally placing the planets of one person's chart into the house structure of the other's.

The Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Jupiter all tend to bring positive energies. Mars, Saturn, Uranus, and particularly Pluto are more difficult to incorporate fully. Neptune brings its own set of rewards and challenges.

The personal data of a chart, the "angles," also figure prominently in relationship. The first-house cusp, the Ascendant or rising sign, denotes the body, and is of particular importance when delineating the possibility of friendship. (Friendship is the foundation of most other non-professional relationships, including marriages. Marriages between two people who cannot be friends do not last long.)

In professional relationships, the tenth-house cusp (Midheaven, MC, or Medium Coeli) is of particular importance.

Marriages or long-term committed relationships call for special attention to be paid to the seventh-house cusp.

Persons who are going to reside together without other entanglement should look at interactions to the fourth-house cusp.

The aspects or angular relationships between the planets of one chart and the angles of another can describe quite accurately the challenges and rewards of any particular relationship. Dividing the circle by three or six gives a positive aspect; dividing it by two or four gives a challenging aspect. Two planets on top of one another will combine their energies, and cannot be judged as either positive or negative without taking into account the planets involved.

Sun in positive aspect to the Ascendant is the hallmark of friendship. If this aspect is challenging, whatever other positive qualities are present, over time the relationship will become so too. Positive Sun-to-Moon aspects between romantic partners support
