Why I love that my husband is a Freemason:
- Search the terms "husband" and "Master" and you won't find a thing about freemasonry but you will find a ton of interesting bedroom activities!
- What can be more satisfying than seeing a man in an apron? And let me tell you, the men in my husband's lodge can cook! My advice to other Masonic wives? Get him talking about the lodge meals and ask for recipes. Or better yet, get him to cook some for you!
- Ever want to be part of a large family? Well now you are! I mean, how many "brothers" does your husband have? The tricky part is keeping all the names straight. For me, this has dissolved into the "Brother Jack" syndrome. Every Mason I am introduced to becomes Brother Jack until I get to know them. Since this name is very common in my husband's lodge, I'm right more often than not!
- Was that handshake really, just a handshake? What do they actually teach in the degrees? The symbols, the history, the legends - what do they really mean? Let's face it, marriage can be boring but just by being a Mason, your husband brings a certain sense of intrigue into your life. My husband has a black book that I like to call "The Super Secret Sacrosanct Book of Gobbledygook!" Although I have yet to touch it, my fingers itch to turn the pages and my mind fills with thoughts of lost treasures and thousand year old puzzles every time I look at it. Don't tell Brother Jack (or my husband) but one day I'll read that book.... Maybe.
- My friends are always impressed when I take off for a night out with "the girls". My husband will often watch the kids without argument. The trick? Start out the request for babysitting with the words, "But honey, you know you have all those Masonic meetings..." It never fails! Not only do I get time out of the house but when he's at meetings I get some time to myself at home too. I love my husband and (horrors of horrors) I actually enjoy his company but knowing I'll have time to myself is definitely a blessing towards our relationship!
- The best advice I can give any woman is "train him early and train right!" If your husband is considering joining the Masons, encourage him to do it while you are both young enough to incorporate it into your lives. I feel pity towards the women who suddenly have their relationship change after twenty or thirty years of marriage. My husband has been a Mason for as long as we've been married. We have both grown with the organization as a part of our lives. This has made

Many years ago my husband walked up to me and announced "I want to be a Mason."

Did you note the prefix to mason free'. That's because free is exactly what a freemason is.

Ouch. I can sense the pain this woman feels, and to her words I would only add these few things. I am a child of a Freemason
I love using Google, and tonight is no exception. It has lead me directly to four interesting articles on Freemasonry, and
