Beaten down and broken
on the road that we call life
she's lost the light of hope
and she can't see the point of facing one more day
underneath this load
so many stop and stare, but no one seems to care

and can you hear her pleading as if bleeding from the soul

In the shadows lie the broken souls
who are tired from the race
rejected and discarded, it's not them but us
who in shame should hide their face
aching for the light, in the darkness of night
