Being Slain in the Spirit
This is an interesting subject. Interesting because I am not aware of its mention in scripture, nor have I read of any occurrence of this so-called being slain. To me being slain indicates that one is out of control of himself or herself, where they cannot come out of a trance like state or whatever condition they are in.
I do not believe that God has things set up this way. It's actually a contradiction to Him giving us free will. In scripture, there are examples of those who had visions and dreams. Such as Ezekiel's visions and such as being caught up to the third heaven, (2 Corinthians 12:2) or being in the Spirit on the Lords day (Revelation 1:10). Nevertheless, no mention of being slain or out of control. Except for those who were possessed of demons. (Selah)
The closest that I have read and experienced this so-called slain thing, was usually during praise and worship, or in the middle of prayer or even in meditation on God's word, and the Spirit of God comes upon me. Being an almost overwhelming presence of Love, where I would be very humbled and I would cry and feel unworthy of His love, and depending where I am at, I would fall to my knees or prostrate before him. God would sometimes speak to me during this, giving me revelation on a subject I was meditating on. Mostly these were unexplainable in that it is hard to get someone to relate to the experience. God's presence would be felt during a sermon or teaching, where I would hear the voice behind the voice and I would receive revelation knowledge. And also in dreams, I would feel Gods presence and direction.
I have been in teaching or preaching mode while in the Spirit and then afterwards, I would not remember what I said. Being in the Spirit. That would be as close as I have been to this so-called, slain in the Spirit.
Again, I have not found examples of this uncontrollable act in scripture.
There are examples where angels would appear, or God's presence would be felt and people would fall on their face as it is worded. They would go limp, or drop as if they were dead (Revelation 1:17). However, slain? Perhaps I have missed it. Or perhaps I have the wrong idea of what slain means.
I have been in services and have seen video of instances where a man or woman of God would touch someone on the forehead and they would fall back and lie there supposedly in some alternate state. (In many cases, they are pushed back.) Now do not get me wrong. I do believe
