Poetry: Chess

-Gentlemen's Chess-

I am like you, just a pawn;

a face off of death.

Two moves to be removed

lay to the side.

Shall we stay and dance,

a final tango if you will

A duel to the death.

lets call it off

Truce, man to man.

You stay on your side,

And I on mine.

This is not our war,

No feud between us

We are mates.

No round table here

Keep your castles,

Go home to our queen.

Good night brave night.

Wait my friend, put away your sword.

I come here offering truce

I am not the enemy, for I come as a brother.

We are warriors, you and I

Fighting with heart

Mad rage uncontrollable;

Seeking peace in war.

They know nothing of the sort,

As if we were pieces casually strewn about;

A game of chess, till one is left standing.

I am like you

Just a pawn.

Two moves to be removed,

Laid to the side.
