In times of recession such as we are experiencing today we all need to know how to get great prices on hotels rooms. Prices on every type of hotel can prove a bit foreboding when it comes to rates but the recession can also be the best bargaining tool you'll ever have to save. People are not traveling as much which opens the door for bargaining and can prove to be the ideal time to look for the best prices you can get. You may be pleasantly surprised at the offers that are out there.

Travel the internet first

The person that travels quite a bit knows how important the savings are on hotel rooms and you can to if you get organized and ask the proper questions when contacting them. There are sites on the internet that can find you the best deals regardless of where you're thinking of traveling. There are travel sites that will search the world to find you the best prices, travel packages or any specials that is offered. All you have to do is supply the name of the place you will be visiting and they will provide you with the hotels that are available and the rates that are offered on the better deals. What you end up with is a list of very fine hotels at a premium.

You do the searching

Visit all the websites you can when you start searching on the internet. You'll be very surprised at the deals you can find on your own. There are vacation packages offered that may include the airfare and any transportation you may need while you're there. Some hotels offer their rooms as part of package deals. This is ideal to phone and speak to one of the staff personally to negotiate a discount on the room you want. Sometimes you can negotiate some very luxurious room at a very great discount price. The recession offers the traveler lots of options on hotel room discounts. It's a travelers market and you may find better deals than ever before.

Bartering

Bartering is still alive and well when it comes to booking rooms at a hotel. Don't be shy to ask if this is the best possible rate they can offer whether it is a business trip or pleasure. You can bargain for the best prices. If you travel in groups there are many hotels that will give discounts. If you're traveling on business and book a conference room you should get an impressive discount due to the fact you are bringing more business to the hotel.
