Full-time college students will often times find themselves bound to their dorm rooms when swarmed with course assignments; this is very distressing when students' dorm rooms are lifeless. Instead, students need an inspiring atmosphere that is achieved with customized, creative decorations. Making crafts for oneself or giving them to students as gifts will definitely come in handy for decorating a college dorm room. Some of these unique craft ideas are listed.
* Bulletin Board Collage
Making a bulletin board collage is convenient in that it can be hung on the outside of a college student's door or on an inside wall of one's dorm room. It is a sturdy surface for thumb tacking numerous photos of family, friends, and pets; pictures of favorite celebrities or personal heroes; and inspirational messages. The presence of the images on this collage will bring comfort and inspiration to college students when they need it the most.
* Handcrafted pillows, blankets, curtains, covers, and rugs
The ability to sew, weave, knit, and crochet is ideal for crafting dorm room decorations. Specifically, sewers, crocheters, or knitters may design matching pillows that may be put on one's bed, chairs, and the floor to create a comfortable environment for studying. Also, craftsmen may find numerous patterns and beautiful yarns for knitting and crocheting blankets for a personalized effect. Sewers may find patterns and beautiful fabrics to make curtains and ironing board covers; while other creative individuals may design their own rugs using kits from craft stores.
* Self-Assembled and Painted Wooden Furniture
Individuals who are skilled in woodworking have the option of decorating their dorm rooms by assembling and painting bare wooden furniture such as picture frames, coat racks, stools, shelves, and computer tables. The raw wooden materials, screws, and drills are usually purchased from hardware stores. Manufacturer-assembled wooden furniture may also be purchased from craft stores for individuals who merely desire to paint it to match the color scheme of the dorm room.
Especially noteworthy, crafting these unique dorm room decorations is a great hobby for college students when taking a break from studying. Whether one's knack is of photography, textile design, or woodworking, a student has many creative dorm room decorating ideas from which to choose. As an alternative, creative relatives or friends who know college students who do not have much time on their hands or who are not into making crafts may create these crafts for them as wonderful gifts for interior decorating.
