At my door in the morning,
a quiet shrieking, light scratches
Something was there, I was certain, very certain
Out of bed I lept up and put on my robe,
Muted the TV, put my ear to the door
With caution, I opened it
And in walked a blonde tabby, relieved to see her new home
A kitten so young, so fragile and dear
So pretty she was, but her face was dark with fear
Quickly out of folded sheets, a little bed I made for the young one
This kitten was my new companion, as I was to her
To the store I rushed quickly for all of her needs
Her faced brightened with hope, as she ate her fancy feast
Outside I went once more, to check around
Outside of my door was posted a note
One message it read, I was sure without a doubt
"Handle with care" the note said
I nodded in agreement and that is what I did
