Addicted to Helium

by Peggy Fisher

Created on: August 06, 2009   Last Updated: August 07, 2009

I am addicted to Helium. I do not want to do anything but write, read and rate articles. I eat while I am rating. When I take my dog out in the back yard I sit and write. I just merged into this addiction without ever realizing it. Let my tell you my story.

It all started June twenty-eighth 2009. I was looking up legitimate and enjoyable ways to earn money on the Internet. I ran across Helium and this wonderful description that anyone was welcome to write creative stories, poetry and and opinions on this site. I immediately went to site.I read about all the different subjects I could write on. Then I saw my favorite, debates. I love to give my opinion. It just makes me feel so important, whether it is knowledgeable or not. Although most of my opinions are not important to anyone but me it just puts me on a natural high. I wrote three articles the first night. I did not want to stop but I was falling asleep. I went to bed when I awoke I immediately went to the site and wrote three more articles.

The next day I had to go to work. On my lunch break I started writing titles and poems. Also ideas for articles The next week I started cutting my hours at work so I could read and learn more about Helium. Week two I took two days off work to do research for short stories and debate articles.

Then I started eating at my computer while rating articles. My family had to start cooking for themselves.'That is alright' I heard my daughter say'it is just a phase.'Dishes started piling up. My family began to get a little worried but brushed it off as being temporary and I would soon be back to my old self. My children have learned to be more independent in the last month then they have in a year.

One day I was writing on Helium and I looked at the clock and realized I had been on there for six hours. My family came home and saw there were four messages on the answering machines that I had not answered or listened to and the dog had pottied on the floor. Now my family started to worry. I heard my daughter say 'I think mom needs an intervention.' My son wondered if there were any programs for people addicted to Helium.

I now work at my job as needed. I figure in the future I will have to beg the utility companys not turn off the water and electric because there is an addict in the family. The point is that once started on Helium you will have to have more and more of it each day. Helium needs a warning on its site that it maybe POSITIVELY addicting.
