Why women cheat on their partners

The majority of infidelity statistics reveal that women have not yet surpassed men on the cheating scale, but in recent years, the number of females who admit to being unfaithful to their partners appears to have risen considerably. Comparatively speaking, the reasons why both men and women cheat are often similar, although it might be argued that cheating fulfills somewhat different needs for males and females. For instance, it is a widely held belief that men cheat for primarily physical reasons, and that women do so in order to satisfy their emotional needs. However, in many cases, the opposite holds true. The fact of the matter is that both sexes are equally capable of infidelity, and for women in particular, the emotional reasons for cheating do seem to outweigh the physical.

The following are some of the main reasons why women choose to cheat on their partners:

1. Women cheat because they feel that they are taken for granted.

If you were to ask a number of women why they have been, or currently are being, unfaithful to their husbands or boyfriends, then the chances are quite high that the vast majority would claim that cheating is, or was, appealing because they felt an overwhelming sense of being taken for granted by their partners. Oftentimes, when a woman views her position in life as nothing more than a housemaid and a babysitter, or when she believes that her significant other sees her in the same way, then she can be easily tempted to look outside of her relationship for someone who will not cause her to feel unappreciated, neglected, or possibly, downright ignored.

2. Women cheat due to self-esteem issues.

It is no secret that many women suffer from low self-esteem, but not all women with these types of issues will automatically cheat in order to feel better about themselves. However, among women who have cheated, it is not uncommon for them to admit to the fact that another man's attention did indeed serve as a much needed boost to their egos. Especially in cases where their partners no longer make them feel sexy, attractive, and desirable, some women find that it is difficult to not give in to the temptation.

3. Women cheat out of revenge or for payback.

Emotional pain, anger, and heartbreak can cause both men and women to react in appropriate ways when they mistakenly believe that two wrongs could possibly make a right. Particularly in the case of infidelity, it is a common reaction for the partner who was originally cheated
