Scorching hot summer in fallow land
Dust devil stirring dry loose sand
No sign of rain for a month or more
Cracking clay on parched, barren floor
Sunburned bodies at Havasu Lake
Jet skies and boats creating a wake
Late night barbeques steaks on the grill
Drinks in the cooler, on ice to chill
High elevation a change of scene
Cool mountain breeze, unsullied, serene
Buzzing mosquitoes, crystal clear lake
Fresh rainbow trout, a slithering snake
Rugged path on steep mountainside
Horses to rent for a trail ride
Blazing campfire at the end of day
Roasting marshmallows the old fashioned way
Clean, crisp air from afternoon rain
Hot steamy desert, thirsty terrain
High in the mountains or desert below
Summertime follows wherever you go
