Poetry: The masks we wear

we walk straight but fall behind ourselves
as if it's different than it was before.
maybe we're mistaking ourselves for somebody else.

i make plans to break plans you promised you'd never feel.
she found scattered lies written in the clouds
but hasn't listened since the last down pour.

now that i see you without fire filled hands
the motion has been passed to pass up your emotion.

you've been dying to haunt me
but the ghosts know the truth of us.
if i survive these frozen smiles,
ill bury the difference till commencement of summer.

patience is a virtual imagination and
you seem content with the whirlwind you created.
what brought you back to the place
that screamed you'd never feel again?
