Poetry: Men

by Gerry Legister

Created on: August 06, 2009   Last Updated: February 01, 2010

Older men with an air of defiance,

Come to the end of their world,

To see a power nor recognize,

Bloom instantly in control.

The moments most remembered,

Sitting on steps reminiscing,

Talking about history they had,

Each story has a new beginning.

Lost their dignity to age preference,

Searching the mind for illusive action,

Sunny smiles fading with the grace,

Most things slowly depart to an end.

Younger men can't stand still,

With glory shouting like a volcano,

For love they will run up any hill,

And cast the enemy down into the inferno.

Men remake fairy stories of old,

Watch the changes in human behavior,

A drama come and gone cold,

Winter taking them to eternal summer.

From the smallest miracle they came,

Men join women on the road to a career,

No more years waiting for things to blame,

When transforming human behavior.

Day turn to night, older men are frighten,

For the changes to their unforgiving destiny,

Kiss with the last breath all the pleasures given,

Together they will rise again in history.
