The best watt bulb to use when reading

For those those who do like to read, not having enough light is often a big concern. We tend to work with inappropriate dim lighting, until the strain can cause drowsiness. The end result makes for retaining the information read very difficult. Why do we struggle like this so often? The effort it would take to correct this reoccurring situation, is merely steps away in a cupboard near you.

Some people prefer to have just a dim light near a coffee table, to allow a better television viewing experience. While others will blind everyone around, with the spotlight effect, from a bulb which is to bright. What can we do to correct these problems in the future? There are some choices here, and maybe an answer does potentially exist.

The first solution would be to get a three way bulb, to allow a few options for different lighting needs. The next suggestion I would make would be to add a second similar light, positioned opposite the seating area which is in need. Another way to avoid poor lighting, could be to center the overhead lighting. So often a room may have a light positioned over a table area which may need lighting, leaving the rest of the room dim in comparison. Not all of us are experts in lighting arrangements, but most problems can be corrected with add on lighting.

If the question needs a specific answer, my choice is the 75 watt bulb. I feel the need to be right on top of a 60 watt bulb when reading, and this can create an awkward position to be comfortable. The opposite can be said of the 100 watt bulb, feeling the need to push far away from the source. It is always better to have more than enough lighting, but having the perfect bulb from the start is key.

When it comes to a bedroom setting, I like the thought of a three way bulb, because the situation is quite different in this room. Generally, we lay on our back ready for bed, looking to do a little reading before turning in. If the choice is to just watch television in bed, a little to bright would pose a problem from time to time.

We should always evaluate each scenario properly, to ensure a happy ending to this requirement. The more we read, the better we are at solving issues like the one we have discussed here.
