Destination Parties

Not traveling to that exotic locale this season? Why not bring the exotic land to you? Throw a party, big or small, with the flavor of the place you want to visit. The Caribbean conjures up images of a Beach party. The rolling mountain ranges around Vail and Aspen screams for a Skiing Lodge party. An Indian party stirs together exotic foods and dress and can be assembled under a tent. Chinese New Year lends itself to Asian Flair. Mardi Gras beads and bangles transport you to New Orleans. These are just a few ideas, and certainly let your imagination go wild. Now to the details of each party

Caribbean Beach Party

Setting: Tropical-, palm trees, beach blankets and toys, tiki torches, sand box or kiddie swimming pool (in the house or out, weather permitting).

Food: A clambake, seafood, or anything grilled like jerk chicken and spicy ribs.

Cocktail: Mojitos, Pina' Coladas, or Coronas

Attire; Beachwear.

Party Favor: Suntan Lotion and sunglasses

Tips: Plan it quickly- before summer is over!

Aspen Lodge Party

Setting: A roaring fireplace, cozy furniture groupings (bring in extra chairs), blankets, and winter sports activities- skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing

Food: Hearty fare- try Hearty Beef Stew or Chili

Cocktail: Warm apple cider, spiced wine, or hot cocoa, with mini marshmallows of course!

Attire: Dress warm if participating in outdoor sports, otherwise flannel, jeans, and boots.

Party favor: Lumberjack plaid anything, items with a moose!

Tip: Blow the air conditioning for a cool chill, or host in the winter-outside!

Exotic Locale Party

Setting: Swag an awning, if at all possible, and hang paper lanterns from it. Use luxurious fabrics, and dim the lights. No chairs- pillows please!

Food: Indian dishes like Tandoori Lamb, Chicken Kebabs, dates, nuts, and olives. Anything that you do not eat everyday!

Cocktail: Tea is served often- spice it up as you wish.

Attire: Saaris, scarves, and sashes, all in bright colors.

Party favor: Mixed herbal teas in a wicker basket.

Tip: This party does not need to have a specific locale in mind- it can just as easily be Asian with a few changes. Let your imagination run with it.

Theme parties require a bit more effort, but in the end are well worth it. Treat yourself and your friends to a party that will be remembered. As always, have fun and don't sweat the small stuff when entertaining- your guests are there to enjoy their time with you and go on an excursion to your favorite destination!
