Protect Them We Must
Lost in a world filled with hatred and greed,
These kids are finding it hard to succeed.
Abused or neglected or just given away,
All they want is a safe place to stay.
They're promised a home where they will be safe,
Then moved around from place to place.
After left by their parents with no where to go,
The system can use them to make more dough.
Foster parents give them love unconditional,
Then they're taken to court without any council.
What the foster parents did, they'll never know,
All they're told is that the kids must go.
The kids are moved over and over again,
A place to call home, they don't know when.
They learn to be tough, to make new friends.
How they will turn out, it all depends
On if they're allowed to stay in one place
Where they can learn to love and trust embrace.
Most make it out of the system ok
If they trust someone to show them the pathway.
When not given the chance to live in one place,
Their fragile little lives certainly will face
A lifelong struggle to give others their trust.
As foster parents we know: Protect them we must.
