Many good reasons apply for someone like Roger Penske, to acquire the rights for Saturn automobiles. Let me take the time to highlight what a name such as his, can do for a stable company.
1. Recognition of name is big with consumers. To feel safe and confident with the choice of an automobile, is important to all of us.
2. In the racing world, everyone can relate to this name. Not only those competing, but those who are avid fans as well.
3. Our country remains proud of the auto history and to have an iconic figure so closely connected, within the field he so is dedicated, is special indeed.
4. A great chance to break the age old choice we have all been accustomed. This could easily make for a quality we have yet to see in American auto quality.
5. A way to better compete with the foreign auto market. We must face the fact that parts for all autos, come from all around the world. The most important part has more to do with assembly of the final product, in order to keep jobs in America. Outsourcing beyond our boundaries, has caused the recent issues at hand.
6. Progressive future models. I feel that the customers who come on as a fan of change, will be rewarded with new concepts. Many will continue from current ownership, while many more will transfer from ordinary selection with prior decisions. We must figure that a vast percent of car owners, have remained loyal to companies for the main reason being, it is an American made vehicle. With that devotion, to be swayed toward another American made brand, done better through ratings and continuous engineering, may just be very overdue for many.
We must all agree, that many struggles are potential for any new approach of marketing. The market is ripe for something new, and change is always inevitable for most business plans. It is how diverse a company can be, to remain buoyant in rough seas. With such a successful background in Nascar, provides great traction entering into another form of what has been a passion for decades now.
It is also my belief that today, a more fuel economic vehicle is far beyond necessary. I cannot think of anyone more suited for a task of this magnitude, than an owner of a race car, who lives by great decisions in dealing with fuel preservation.
