Poetry: Sunsets

by Richard Ellis

Created on: August 04, 2009

Sunsets.

When our weary day is nearly done,
And we observe the setting sun,
Where colors of God's pallet are arrayed,
What glory is before us there displayed.

On His canvas of evening sky,
His brush deftly does apply,
A slowly changing array of beautiful hues,
With which the fleecy clouds He does suffuse.

A soft yellowy glow into orange blends,
And then to pink or fiery red extends,
While here and there still some blue,
From behind the clouds is peeking through.

It can sooth an over stressful mind,
And help the tension to unwind;
Its peaceful beauty is therapy indeed,
Uplifting a weary soul in need.

Whether splashed across the prairie sand,
Or reflected upon the sea so grand,
'Tis always a beautiful sight to behold,
And proof that our God is still in control.
