Poetry: Through the eyes of a child

by Louise Nilon

A quilt is a palace
Through the eyes of a child
A garden, a jungle
Where tigers run wild

A box is a car
Or a house, or a boat
Or a magical carpet
On which you can float

To a land far away
Where monsters roam
And angels, and fairies
And a big angry gnome

A child sees the world
With anticipation
A place to explore
With imagination

Where colours amaze
And the mind can run free
And you can be anything
You want to be

It's a wonderful place
Where imagination runs wild
Yes, the world looks much better
Through the eyes of a child
