Sometimes you just need to relax, have a good laugh, and take your mind off of everything else. This is where comedy movies come in, as they allow you to meet all of those criteria. There is nothing to get you out of a bad mood like a good movie that will make you laugh your head off. Here are some good comedies that you really need to see if you haven't yet:
- Office Space - funniest movie of all-time, in my humble opinion.. The whole movie is just brilliant, from the way it is written to the way it is acted. "I wouldn't say I've been MISSING it Bob!" There are many great performances, and much of the movie and lines have been adopted into pop culture references.
- Airplane! - If Office Space is the funniest movie, Airplane! is close behind. The sort of cheap, subtle humor is constant throughout the movie, making it just hilarious from the get-go. "I am serious, and don't call me Shirley." The humor is there throughout the movie, even in places where you don't expect it to be that funny.
- Meet the Parents - Ben Stiller stars as Gaylord Focker is a great movie about him meeting his fiancee's parents. "I have nipples Greg, can you milk me?" Ben Stiller is one of the funniest actors today, and this is probably his funniest movie.
- Groundhog Day - Bill Murray is just brilliant in this movie, as the weatherman who keeps reliving one awful day over and over. "Here's a prediction about the weather: it's gonna be cold, it's gonna be gray, and it's gonna last you the rest of your life." This is especially cool if you happen to have visited Punxsatawney, PA at some point in your life, as I have!
- Anchorman - Will Ferrell stars as Anchorman Ron Burgundy, the sexist early 70s anchorman who finally sees the light at the end of the movie. "Wow, that really escalated quickly."
- Old School - Another Will Ferrell movie, also starring Vince Vaughn, about the older guys who start up a fraternity near campus, and then do all that they can to keep it going after the school tries to shut it down. "Frank the Tank!"
So these are just a few recommendations of some very funny movies that you should definitely check out if you haven't seen them yet. They will all help you take your mind off of everything else and simply enjoy a few good laughs for a couple of hours.
