Reflections: What America needs

"Reflections: What America needs", an interesting and intriguing subject, especially since the title was introduced before the 2008 Election. As a result, most of the articles were fixated on the Presidential Candidates and how each would benefit America. It's interesting to note how relevant the topic is, even now with the election over and President Obama beyond his first 100 days.

Clearly, the present state of the economy, skyrocketing deficits, a social security program nearing critical mass, health care that's far from what any American would've thought adequate for the citizens of this country, the inability or unwillingness of government to secure our borders correctly, global unrest, the escalation of acts of terror worldwide, all these things (and many more), give every concerned American more than enough to sound-off about.

Many, many more would love the opportunity to be working, so create jobs immediately. The present stimulus program has failed to accomplish what it was supposed to do, create jobs and stimulate the economy. Common sense wins again, instead of throwing money into lost causes, think of how fast inventories would have been wiped out and the need for manufacturing to resume at breakneck speed if every tax paying household had received $60, $70, $80,000. Cars, appliances, refinances, homes, you name it, Americans would've been buying it. If they buy it, businesses need to replace it. That means jobs, now (not 10 months from
