Poetry: Inside

by S.C. Kleinhans

Created on: August 04, 2009

The dead are resting uneasily near the side of a busy road.

The noise and the traffic are bothering them.

Few relatives or friends ever come to visit

after the solemn burial ceremony is over.

It is exceedingly lonely inside this cemetery.

The birds gracefully swoop over grave after grave.

Helium balloons, flags and flowers adorn the markers.

Trees provide unruly shade for the unready dead.

Most dead people, I'm certain, would gladly trade

inside information regarding Heaven and Hell

for one more day of living.
