Buying cold cuts: Choosing packaged or deli-sliced

BUYING COLD CUTS: CHOOSING PACKAGED OR DELI-SLICED

For this item, the best answer is: neither. Both packaged and deli-sliced cold cuts are packed with sodium. Sodium and other preservatives are detrimental to your health. The best solution is to have home-made slices of freshly cooked chicken or turkey breast. This way, you have the item at the peak of its freshness and without the additives and additional preservatives.

A better way to think is fresh versus items that were made during the time when we were required to spend time practicing for possible invasions, bombings, and earthquake drills; only the older readers may remember this time. This is a fast-food, hurry-up nation which needs to take a little extra time and thought into their food, transportation, and energy choices. Changing your food choices now can save you thousands of dollars in doctor's bills in the future. Who in their right mind wants to spend 3-4 hours in a doctor's waiting room each week for the sake of sliced bologna, pastrami, or roast beef? And, I REALLY like roast beef!

We have become a more stagnant society that has sucked the 'fun' out of being young, overburdened the middle-aged, and push away the elderly: where does it all end? Here and now, with a home-made sandwich in which the entire family can participate; even those who dubbed themselves as the 'guardian of the remote control'.
