Minnesota has several locations that would be great points of interest from the family standpoint. One could choose between visiting the Laura Ingalls home in Walnut Grove, MN for blast from the past kind of experience, and going North Country for a fantastic weekend at the shore of the Lake Superior.
The State has lots of opportunities; some for the avid explorer as well as candid and calm places for those who wish to spend a nice quite time with nature and even for those who think of themselves as big city lovers and that would feel lost if not close to crowds of people.
Minnesota has it all. For those who can not see themselves leaving the concrete jungle for the Great outdoors we have the perfect spot:
The Mall of America provides hours shopping and entertaining for the whole family. In the middle of the mall the young and the old can find a nice escape to the many stores, food malls and movie theaters, in the now recently named Nickelodeon Universe. The amusement park is the largest indoor family theme park in the country and includes roller coasters, a Ferris wheel, a carousel, and other types of amusement park rides that mean lots fun for the whole family. It also has the world's largest underground aquarium where kids and adults can enjoy a close encounter with Sharks, turtles, seahorses and stingrays. The Mall of America has something for everyone, from the Word of Lego, to the Mini golf, and from the latest Hollywood release in their VIP movie theater to excellent dining in one of their many exquisite restaurants. With plenty of hotels around their grounds, including a hotel with the largest indoor water park in the nation less than a mile away; the Mall of America is one of the best spots for a Family to spend some quality time together.
If on the other hand, nature and tranquility is what you are looking for, look no further. Minnesota has the place for you; going north on 35W from the Twin Cities, passing Duluth and continuing on Highway 61, a few miles south of the Canadian border lays the town of Grand Marais, MN. This small but picturesque town is located in the shore of the Lake Superior and is the entrance to the Gunflint Trail a Minnesota Scenic Byway. Activities year round can be found in Grand Marais. Hiking, biking, bird and wildlife viewing, fishing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing and dog sledding are just a few of the possibilities to discover when visiting. The town is also rich in arts and culture, and is full of originality and creativity. Both the young and the old will enjoy visiting the charming town and wilderness that surrounds it.
