Poetry: Adoption

What a beautiful baby so soft and alive.
A head of hair something to see.
Loves to be rocked and I love to oblige.
She's such a sweet part of me.

I was so young when she came to be.
Times they were certainly tough.
As each day went by I would ask myself why ?
Why my life seemed all to rough?

Remembering the days when I was a child.
The heartache the anger the pain.
I dreamt of my future my children my spouse.
Good things would forever remain.

A home with dysfunction and no where to go.
With a baby whom I knew for sure.
Would never reside in the mess of my life.
So the pain I would have to endure.

Faced with this very adult choice to make.
At an age when I should be at play.
Put a mark on my heart forever changing the me.
I knew I must give her away.

And so today so many years have gone by.
Not one day does her memory fade.
Only held her for minutes before she would go.
Deep in my heart she has always stayed.

I take comfort in knowing she at least has a chance.
To develop into an adult.
With memories of love life and sweet harmony.
A good woman would be the result..
